Product Design Projects
During my two years A Level Design and Technology: Product Design course, I completed two projects (see below for examples).
My A Level project focussed on upcycling a waste product into garments, in this case it was tents and sleeping bags that had been left behind at festivals. I designed and prototyped whilst continually receiving customer feedback to ensure that the garments were suitable. My final prototype consisted of four pieces including a corset with removable woven panel, trousers that could be altered on the hem, sleeping bag gilet and a bucket hat.
The project I completed at AS Level incorporated multi-functionality with improvements to the way sports equipment is carried. After thorough research I decided to create a paddle board carry bag which also folds to become a dry bag to be kept on the board. By designing and prototyping I was able to determine the best solution to the problems experienced by the customer. The final product incorporated a waterproof material which utilised waste plastic bags which formed additional water protection.
